The LegacyEl legado
In 1968 the World Surfing Championship came to Rincón, and the wave in front of a modest wooden house on stilts — then called Rincón Point — turned out to be world class. Doña Maria Garcia lived in that house. She let surfers camp on her land, handed out coffee and toast when they came out of the water, and sold cold sodas from the Coke machine beside her porch. The surfers started calling the break “Maria’s.” The name never left. Her son Ramón Acevedo García kept the house and the friendships for decades after her, and today the Acevedo family runs the estate that stands on the very same sand. Inside, the villa still tells the family story: the Ramón wing carries darker, more masculine woodwork; the Maria wing is softer and brighter; and family photographs from 1945 through the early 2000s hang throughout the house. Eight bedrooms and six and a half baths across two named wings — each with its own full kitchen and its own long dining table, so a wedding party, a retreat, or three generations can spread out and still meet at the pool. Staying at this Villa was an amazing experience. It is spacious, has all the amenities you could need — pool, two fully outfitted kitchens, washing machines, living rooms, hot-tubs, and 2 outdoor wet bars.
